Princess to live quietly
(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, February 25.
Princess Christina of the Netherlands and her Cubanborn commoner fiance, Jorge Guillermo, will be quite happy to live quiet lives and be ordinary New Yorkers when they are married. The couple appeared at a press conference at the house of the Netherlands ConsulGeneral, Mr W. J. C. Campagne.
Both expressed surprise at the public interest in their engagement — Princess Christina pointed out that her sisters, Beatrice and Marguerethe, had married commoners.
The couple, who will marry on June 30 in Utrecht, are both teachers and will continue their careers after the wedding. They met two years ago at a party when both were 26. Jorge works in a day care centre in the black ghetto of Harlem and the Princess teaches music and French at a private school. Princess Christina and Jorge said her parents had no objection to their plans, and were “really, very happy” about the engagement.
