A continuous infusion pump worth about $lOOO was given to the pediatric department of Christchurch Hospital yesterday by the Commander of the United
States Navy Antartic support force, Captain E. W. Van Reeth (middle). The money was part of the $4OOO raised during the Christmas holiday period at
McMurdo Station for charitable causes in Christchurch. The pump can be used to control the rate of infusion of blood or other fluids in a child, the administration of certain
drugs, or intravenous feeding of small babies. At left is Professor F. T. Shannon, professor of pediatrics, and Dr R. A. Fairgray, medical superintendent of Christchurch Hospital.
