ECONOMIC DOWNTURN
Nelson vessels laid up (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, Feb. 24. Two vessels owned by Anchor Dorman Ltd, have been laid up in Nelson, and a third is sailing only partloaded. The Totara has been laid up, and will not sail again until after her March 19 survey, and so has the Titoki. The latter will be tied up for two weeks at the request of the Golden Bay Cement Company, which has- asked Anchor Dorman to keep the collier away from Tarakohe so that labour will not be tied by general port duties. All labour at the cement plant is needed for repair and maintenance work. The Pukeko is continuing to sail between Nelson and Onehunga, but is not carrying full loads. The downturn in the economy and seasonal factors are blamed fur the laying up of the Totara and the light loads on the Pukeko.
