Outsider wins L.A. open
<N.Z.P.A.Reuter—Copvrtght) LOS ANGELES. Pat Fitzsimons has wo the $NZ112,500 Glen Camp bell Los Angeles open golf tournament, his first victroy as a professional. Fitzsimons had a four-round total of 275. Tom Kite was the runner-up, with a total of 279, and Jack Nicklaus (280) was third. Fitzsimons, aged 24, finished nine under par for the four rounds, and equalled the tournament record set by Ben Hogan in 1948. The tournament field included Johnny Miller, wh< finished with a total of 287, and Lee Trevino. Tom Weiskopf (282) was fourth.
