Liquidations up
More companies were dissolved or struck off the register, had receivers appointed, or were liquidated during the 1974 calander year, the Companies Office said yesterday. In 1974, 3589 companies were dissolved or struck off the register, 418 more than in the previous year, 191 had receivers appointed, an increase of 23, 79 more, at 313, went into voluntary liquidation, and 78 were liquidated by Court order, five more than for last year. New company registrations fell. In 1974 7736 were
registered, 1078 fewer than in 1973, but the total number of Companies on the register at December 31 was 4166 higher at 98,399. New companies registered in December 1974 at 466, were 231 fewer than for December 1973, but dissolutions rose over the corresponding period by 67 to 245. Liquidations and wind-ups j were also higher for last De- : cember. Eight companies! were the subjects of court orders to wind up, and 32! went in to voluntary liquidation. The figures for December 1973 were 3 and 21.
