King is having a good l year; he still has a chance: in the pairs, triples and fours. Woolston W.M.C. has some good colts this year, with none more promising than R. McCammon, who won the colts title with two lives. One of the club’s bestknown bowlers, M. J. G. Robson, recently underwent a heart operation in Dunedinl and according to reports he is progressing satisfactorily. * * * H. Scrimgeour’s team of L.

i Scurr, B. Eder and J. Pulley: : has won the fours champion- > ship at Rangiora. It beat the I team of K. Stickle, R. Steven- • son, A. Henderson and E. Wayland (s) in the final. Speer,; had to fight hard to retain j ( their two lives when they met A. Betteridge and L.:j Bradbury in a semi-final. Bradbury led nearly all the way, but fell behind when he dropped a six on the I eighteenth end. Even on the < final end Bradbury had the 1 three he needed for victory 1 until Speer played the per- i feet shot with his last bowl. < Speer now meets R. ilinson, scored a surprise win in the pairs at Papanui. In i the final he beat B. F. j McGowan, whose lead was ; E. Ambrose, 21-20 after the game had gone into a threeiend playoff. There was also a very! close finish in a semi-final of the fours, J. H. Gill beatting R. C. I i Spiers 22-13, a four on the! (last end taking him clear. ; Other members of the wih!ning team were R. Low, M. ! O’Connor and D. Gowans. # # * The last “Around the Greens” contained two errors, neither of which was the fault of the contributor. It was J. Pulley, not J. Rowe, who had unsuccessfully contested six finals at Rangi- ; ora; and the fours match at Barrington between K. Scott! and H. Gibbons was a semi-; final, not the final. How-; ever, they will meet again; in the final.
