Explosion in boat
(N.Z. Press Association)
NAPIER, Feb. 23.
Four men jumped for their lives when a launch exploded and burst into flames just outside the Napier Sailing Club in the city’s inner harbour at 6.55 a.m. today.
None of the men were injured and all swam 100 yards to shore and safety. They had planned to go fishing, but the owner of the 20ft craft, Mr Keith Siriett, said: “It just went bang and that was that.” The launch Belltrix sank immediately.
