Lack-lustre trade, more falls in Australia
Established mining and industrial stocks were slightly weaker on Australian exchanges yesterday. The over-all lack of interest in the market was evident when B.H.P. closed 2c down at 640 c. Banking issues, brewers, and retailers all closed on a mixed note but movements were small. In a dull and weaker mining market, stocks to lose ground included B.H. South, C.R.A., M.1.M., and W.M.C. In a moderately- active gold section, most issues tended to ease toward the close. Emperor and G.M.K. fell 3c to 195 c, and 5c to 225 c. Pancontinentaf closed 15c down at 350 c in a weaker uranium section.
Most oil stocks ended the day unchanged. SYDNEY Sales.—AmatU, 145; Ampol, 47; Ansett, 67; Assoc.
