Adamson leads
With only four rounds remaining in the summer A grade table tennis competition. the 19-year-old Riccarton player, Wayne Adamson, is poised to become the top scorer in the series.
Adamson has won 24 of his 27 singles, two clear of his experienced team-mate, John Armstrong, and the consistent Selwyn captain, Bill Scott. If Adamson retains his lead, it will be the second time that he has topped the I list of scorers. In the 1973: winter championship he had most wins — and the best: percentage.
Leading scorers, with the number of matches played shown in parentheses, are:
W. D. Adamson (Riccarton). 24 (27); W-. T. Scott (Selwyn), 22 (24); J. Armstrong (Riccarton I), 22 (27); Ling Nan Ming (University), 21 (24); A. £, Alabaster (Riccarton I), 19 (24); Yee Chow Boi (Uni-i versity), 18 (26); J. Baxter (Selwyn, 16 (24); M. W. S. Burrowes (Avonside I), 15 (21). Burrowes lost three! matches by default.
