Demolition Derbies

Sir, — I would like to say I that 1 think Demolition Deribies are the ultimate effect ■of a materialistic consumer society such as ours. In view of the fact that over two-thirds of the world are starving I feel that affluent New Zealanders could spend their time, money and effort in more sharing ways than Demolition Derbies. I would blame the blatant advertising for enticing so many non-thinking people to the Derby. I wonder how drivers of these cars feel towards tbe risk of their own lives, sheer destruction and starving people. — Yours, etc., YOUNG CHRISTIAN WORKER. February 19, 1975.
