Security Service
Sir, — I applaud the actions of those enlightened young men who picketed the local lair of the Security Intelligence Service on Monday. The insidious surveillance of our citizens perpetrated by the cryptic organisation of dubious worth is alone intrinsically detestable - but its alleged association with the C.1.A., among others, suggests its involvement in even more sinister activities. I contend that the S.I.S. represents a betrayal of the traditional, indeed fundamental, democratic rights of New Zealanders and therefore should be disbanded forthwith. — Yours etc., MR. G.
