Below-budget profit for Bram. Burnett

The unaudited group net profit for the six months to December 31 of Brambles Burnett, Ltd, was marginally lower than budgeted, the chairman (Mr R. A. Burnett) said in the company’s halfyearly report.

This Was caused mainly by the down turn in the agricultural economy, which affected turnover and earnings of the rural divisions, together with the delays experienced in obtaining justifiable cost recoveries for the freightforwarding activities, Mr Burnett said. “Given a continuation of the slightly improved trading conditions prevailing over the past few Weeks, the directors consider the second half of the financial year will produce improved trading which should yield a final result in line with the previous year.”

Interim dividends of 2.5 c an ordinary share, and 2c an ordinary “B” share will be paid on April 24, ex dividend April 7.
