Fair spread of information
Regarding the advance notice of the date of release of the preliminary half-yearly report, the chairman of Challenge Corporation (Mr R. R. Trotter) said: “In January the board announced that it would be releasing the half-yearly results at its meeting on February 19, and would be considering the payment of an interim dividend. This appears to have created confusion in the minds of some sharebrokers and financial writers because, as far as we know, we are the only company in New Zealand that makes such an announcement. “A preliminary' announcement of this nature is a requirement of our listing on the London Stock Exchange. We believe such announcements should be made to all our shareholders, and are of value to the market. We therefore make the same announcement to the Stock Exchange in New Zealand that we are obliged to make in London.”
