Star stamp
The Australian opera star, Joan Sutherland, has had her success “stamped” by the central South American country, Nicaragua, which has just released a special issue of stamps featuring the “15 greatest opera singers of our time.” Joan Sutherland is shown singing Donizetti’s “La Fille Du Regiment” beside the title page of the score. Among the others honoured are Caruso, Callas and Gobbi.
