Waller join champions

The Christchurch Rugby club’s chances of retaining the Harewo.od Trophy in the senior competition this year have been boosted by the acquisition of the experienced Wellington lock, Denis Waller. Since 1970 Waller has played more than 60 matches for Wellington A; he was also an All Black trialist in 1973. A fine line-out jumper and a hard-driving tight forward, Waller will bring strength and sagacity to a young and vigorous Christchurch pack. A long-serving member of the Wellington College Old Boys club, Waller entered first-class Rugby in 1968 as a Wellington B representative. His ability has commended him to provincial selectors ever since.

The Canterbury selectors, too, are likely to take a keen interest in Waller's form in the coming winter, in view of Hamish MacDonald’s departure from Canterbury for North Auckland.
