Grant for pupils
(N.Z. Press Assn—copyright) MELBOURNE.
The team of Victorian secondary school pupils will be able to compete in conjunction with the New Zealand Games thia month as the result of a grant by the Victorian Government. It was earlier feared that some of the boys in the team would have to withdraw because of lack of funds. The Victorian Amateur Athletic Association had been asked by Mr Pat Clohessy, convenor of the Victorian Amateur Athletics Association (V.A.A.A.) schoolboys’ promotion committee, to contribute 9100 to each of the boys. The V.A.A.A. council meeting last week refused to contribute to the team that had been invited to compete against other school teams during the New Zealand Games.
