Tayler’s move not clear
The Commonwealth Games 10.000 metres gold medal winner. Richard Tayler. confirmed from Blenheim last evening that he had accented an appointment with Radio Avon. But until he had had further talks with the management of Radio Avon he was unable to say if he would be moving tn Christchurch. Tayler said. He said that a second iniurv to his left foot was giving him a lot of trouble. He had been unable to train at all yesterday and. on medical advice sat for most of the time with his foot in a bucket of ice to reduce the inflamation across the instep.
He said that he would be going to the Games, although he would not he competing because of his foot injure. It was possible that he would be commenting nn the Games for Radio Avon.
A Press Association message from Blenheim quoted Tavier as saying he was uncertain about the details nf his employment with Radio Avon as he had onlv spoken to the station’s management on the telephone.
Asked what the terms of Tayler’s emnlovment would he. the manager of Radio Avon. Mr Noel Wesney, told the Press Association: “At this stage of the game T am not prepared to say very' much.”
He said when the terms nf employment had been 'orted out later in the week he would make a press statement.
Mr Wesney was obviously concerned that employment should be arranged in such a way that it would not harm Tayler’s amateur status.
