Telephone calls
Sir, — Twice recently I have been wakened in the early hours of the morning by the ringing of the phone. Last month it was 3 a.m. and this morning it was 2 a.m. These may have been genuine wrong numbers, but in each case when I answered I heard the phone being replaced without anyone speaking. If they are deliberate calls I would like the person concerned to know that my nerves are quite sound, but for anyone in poor health or disabled, answering the phone may be quite an upsetting business and have serious consequences. — Yours, etc.,
LADY ANNOYED; January 12, 1975.
