Tasman hunt for yacht
t.V.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) CANBERRA, January 12. Tasman ships and aircraft have been asked to watch for a yacht missing since it left Queensland Ijf Auckland on December 18. The Marine Operations Centre in Canberra said today that the yacht Flamingo had not been seen since it left Mooloolaba, in Queensland. It was due to sail to Auckland by way of Lord Howe Island. Details of the owners and crew of the yacht are not known, but it is thought that three men and a woman are aboard. Two are thought to be New Zealanders, and the others from Brisbane. The 31ft Australianregistered Flamingo is cutter-rigged. The single masted yacht has an engine and fuel capacity for 650 kilometres.
New Zealand authorities have also been alerted, and a check begun of ports and harbours north of Auckland.
