Looking for sex cost $l00
(T/.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 12.
A man who drove round Herne Bay with a friend on Friday night “looking for sex’’ appeared in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Mr N. R. Taylor, S.M., heard that Barry Jeffery, aged 27, a company director, and a friend had driven round Herne Bay trying doors and windows of houses.
They had opened the front window of a house and then tried the front door. When it was found to be locked they tried the back door and kitchen windows, which were also locked.
When disturbed the two ran off and were later caught by the police. Jeffery had told the police he was “trying to get some woman” for himself and his friend. He admitted a charge of lurking and loitering near a dwellinghouse and told the Court that he was a “bit overloaded” with drink at the time.
“This sort of thing scares the living daylights out of people,” said the Magistate as he imposed a fine of $lOO.
