McCarthy to run

A former United States Senator, Eugene McCarthy, said yesterday that he would run for President of the United States as an independent in 1976. Mr McCarthy, who made an unsuccessful bid for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 1968, said that the party was so fragmented now it was unable to conduct party business.
