New pipeline in China
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) TOKYO, Jan. 13.
China has built an 1152kilometre pipeline to link the Taching oilfield, in north-east China, with the port of Chinhuangtao. The Hsinhua News Agency said the project was China’s first large-bore, long-dis-tance pipeline. It began in Heilungkiang Province, pushed south through Kirin and Liaoning, and terminated on the coast of Hopei. The Hsinhua radio report monitored in Tokyo, said the pipeline, in which 200,000 tons of steel was used, crossed rivers at 260 places, railway lines at 40 places, and highways more than 200 times.
