Kim Wright collection on show
The Kim Wright colleclection of New Zealand painting is now on show at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery in the Botanic Gardens. The collection has been housed at the GovettBrewster Art Gallery for the last four years, and is being toured throughout New Zealand by that gallery, with the assistance of the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council.
A private collector, Mr Kim Wright, began the collection 10 years ago, and in that time has amassed an important selection of New Zealand paintings, drawings, and prints. Most styles of New Zealand painting over the last decade are represented.
Mr Wright has slowly built and trimmed areas where the collection now boasts in-depth views of specific artists and areas. The collection is also strong in New Zealand figurative painting.
The exhibition will remain on view until January 29.
