Ali fight abandoned
(N.Z.P.A.Reuter—Copyright) KINGSTON. Plans to stage a heavyweight title fight between the world champion, Muhammad Ali, and Chuck Wepner at Jamaica’s National Stadium next spring have been abandoned. The fight was called off after the Government-backed National Sports Limited said they could not guarantee live gate takings of half a million dollars, which had been demanded by the American promoter, Mr Don King.
