MAY MISS FINAL

Brother Bee lame

(N.Z. Press Assn —Copt/r<oht> SYDNEY.

The New Zealand greyhound, Brother Bee may not start in the Wentworth Park St Leger final despite his brilliant semi-final win on Saturday. Brother Bee pulled up lame after leading throughout to win his semi-final by six lengths in the fast time of 30.955ec.

It was a great effort by the New Zealand dog, as he was later found to have suffered a toe injury which a steward described as “pretty bad.” Brother Bee’s connections were issued with a ten day certificate of incapacitation but this is subject to a veterinary examination next Friday. “It will be a thorough examination and we hope to get the dog into the final if possible," a steward said.

Brother Bee’s win on Saturday was his eleventh in a row.

The dog was sold for $25,000 on Saturday night after an earlier offer of $20,000 had been turned down.

The buyer, Mr S. Cleverly, will take possession of Brother Bee next Saturday. Mr T. Green, the Auckland businessman who owned Brother Bee, will retain a one-third interest in the dog’s earnings both on the track and at stud.
