Accord extended
West Germany has agreed to extend East Germany’s interest-free trade over-draft ceiling of 850 million marks (about $246m) until 1981. There had been speculation in the West German press recently that Bonn might refuse to renew the accord because of East German disruption of transit between West Germany and West Berlin. East Germany had given a warning that she would regard a refusal to extend her trade credit as a breach of the 1972 interGerman “good neighbourtreaty. West Germany is by far her largest Western trading partner. — Bonn, December 12.
