VEGETABLE GROWERS
Awards by institute Fourteen commercial vegetable growers, and persons who have been closely associated with vegetable production in Canterbury, were awarded honorary national diplomas in horticulture (vegetable) at the recent annual meeting of the Canterbury council of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture.
The diplomas, presented by the Christchurch chairman (Mr R. Mulholland), were in recognition of outstanding service in the vegetablegrowing industry over many years.
Mr J. A. Hayes, of Christchurch, who qualified by examination, was presented with the national diploma in horticulture (vegetable) and Mr R. J. Prisk was awarded the horticultural salesman's certificate. For outstanding service to horticulture, Mr H. H. H. Gardener was made a fellow of the institute. The recipients of the honorary diplomas were: Messrs A. Ching, B. L. Chisholm, J. Chong, G. M. Cox. C. C. East, J. A. Fineran, W. M. C. Fright, C. A. Harrow, L. C. Humdell, G. A. Knowles, W. L. McFadden, L. G. McFadden, A. D. M. Pinfold, and A. F. Seyb.
