Plunket Society
Sir, — The article in “The Press” about Mr McGuigan and the Plunket Society must give all free enterprise voluntary workers cause for alarm. If we lose the Plunket Society to a Statecontrolled health system, we are losing something vital to our way of life. Mr McGuigan gave an excuse for streamlining everything under the State umbrella. He will learn to his cost that there are many thousands of generous voluntary workers in this country who will fight to retain their freedom. At a time when community involvement is being encouraged as a solution to our social ills, we have a Minister and a Government bent on socialising everything. His lack of understanding of all that this involves appals me. —Yours etc., PLUNKET PATRONESS. December 6, 1974.
