Injured man flown out
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 15. A radio operator at Scott Base, Antarctica, was flown back to New Zealand today for urgent hospital treatment on the advice of medical experts at the United States McMurdo Base.
Mr John Reinke, aged 21, of Kaikoura, is suffering from a paralysed right arm caused by muscular constriction. The condition requires specialist treatment not available at McMurdo. Mr Reinke began work at Scott Base on October 16 and was not due to return to New Zealand until late February.
Candidate.—A 33-year-old research scientist will contest the Hamilton East seat for the National Party in next year’s election. Dr I. J. Shearer was selected by delegates at a selection committee meeting in Hamilton.
