G. Thomas, of Wales, earned a place in the final against the English titleholder, R. Edmonds, when he beat P. Burke, of Ireland 8-2, in their be.st-of-15 frame semi-final at the world ama teur snooker championship in Dublin.
Thomas’s 46 in the ninth frame was the best break in an uninspired semi-final in which the Irishman was well below form. His be>st breal was 36 in the second frame. Semi-final frame scorei (Thomas first): 75-15, 48-7 L 84-11, 63-40, 28-73, 60-27, 6b 51, 72-39, 72-22, 76-40.
