Jews stage protest

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 15. Seven Jewish students staged a quiet demonstration outside Parliament in Wellington today in protest against New Zealand’s voting in favour of granting observer status at the United Nations to the Palestine Liberation Organisation. The students lined up outside Parliament with placards recalling incidents of anti-Israeli terrorism, and noting that a New Zealand girl was killed in one raid this year. They handed in a letter for the Prime Minister signed by the president of the National Council of Jewish Students (Mr Gary Weiss) objecting to New Zealand’s vote. It said the council was concerned that Mr Rowling should realise the true nature of the organisation New Zealand had supported.
