Textile Institute conference
About 100 representatives from textile firms throughout New Zealand are attending the third annual conference of the Textile Institute at Lincoln College. The conference opened yesterday with an address by the assistant secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (Mr P. J. McKone) and will finish today. The Under-Secretary of Trade and Industry (Mr B. P. MacDonell) was meant to have opened the conference, but he is on an overseas trip. The programme includes eight lectures by representatives of textile firms, Government departments, and Massey University. They included an address yesterday by Dr A. Johnels, manager of manufacturing services of the International Wool Secretariat, England.
