Promotion
(N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, Oct. 27. A former Timaru resident, Rear-Admiral A. G. Tait, has been promoted to a ViceAdmiral of the Royal Navy. This is believed to be the highest rank achieved bv a native-born New Zealander in .the Service. Vice-Admiral Tait was educated at Timaru Boys’ Hign i School. His father, Mr A. G. [Tait, was rector of the school. I Vice-Admiral Tait joined the 'Royal Navy in 1939.
