Weak sale for adult steers
As expected, the weak state i of the beef market was fully • reflected In prices, when a special sale of adult steers was: held at the Addington Market i on Friday.
Local fatteners, as at the yearl-: ing sale on Wednesday, provided I the bulk of the support, and | their limits wore conservative. ]
The top selection of steers—some of which would have made more in the fat pens on Tuesday —sold at SllO to $124. good average at $95 to SlO5, and smaller or harder-conditioned cattle down to $75.
Dairy-bred steers had a hard sale. Big-framed adult Frtesians sold at $92 to $lO5, but younger cattle sold down to $5O.
Outside inquiry was limited. Two pens of steers were bought for the Timaru district, and a truck lot for Dunedin.
Because of the wet conditions under-foot, some consignments of cattle did not reach the market, and this reduced the yarding to 335 head. Sales included:—
