Helmet sales under inquiry
Sales of motor-cycle helmets designed to look like the “coal scuttle” helmets of the German Army during World War II might lead to a prosecution by the Ministry of Transport, the regional ecretary for transport (Mr D. L. Hogan) said; yesterday. Under the regulations/ only officially approved safety helmets may be sold to motor-cyclists, and motorcyclists do not comply with the compulsory helmet regulations unless they wear an approved helmet. Mr Hogan said yesterday that the Ministry was investigating the sale of the “coal scuttle” helmets, and the investigation might lead to prosecutions.
