Share holders get night on the town
<Neu> Zealand Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY. In what must be “the” annual meeting of the year, Lend Lease Corporation, Ltd, is treating shareholders next Saturday to a night at the Sydney Opera House with all the trimmings.
With a backdrop of dazzling harbour lights, shareholders after the meeting; will sip refreshments as the i stage of the concert hall is! cieared for a recital by Don-| aid Smith of the Australian; Opera Company. During recent years, Lend Lease has built up a reputa-i
■tion for holding the most ■: lavish annual meeting, with lithe entertainment being as ' varied as the venue. Last year, a banquet was held at the shopping comiplex at Sydney’s Bankstown ■Square. The response has always I been excellent, and this year
I the directors are expecting about 2000. However, the lavishness of j the occasion is unlikely to distract shareholders’ attenj tion from the more ticklish I questions they have a habit! 'of asking at annual meetings. In fact, as employees are; included, the meeting could iprovide them with a forum! ijfor venting their opinions.
As Lend Lease is one of Australia’s largest and most successful property developers, the meeting should prove of interest to all, parI ticularly in view of the recent collapse of the real estate boom. In his chairman’s address.. Mr G. J. Dusseldorf is also! I likely to give his opinion on; ' what he considers is the im-! mediate future of the property development sector after the recent collapses; ;and. in particular, after the relaxation of monetary controls in the past couple of weeks.
