> (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 14. The reopening of the State Aid Conference will be; among topics at a meeting lon Wednesday of the Steering Committee on State Aid ifor Private Schools. The committee is likely to; recommend to the Minister I of Education (Mr Amos) that' | the conference — closed! I since May last year — be; | set in motion again. I Since the conference, two working parties — one discussing the integration of State and private schools, the other discussing keeping up aid to schools which do not integrate — have been negotiating.
According to a steering .committee member, Miss H. ;M. Ryburn, from the Post- ! Primary Teachers’ Association, independent and State ■groups are very close to a ; final decision on integration. But, she said today, the discussions about continuing aid to schools which decide not to integrate are bogged 'down.
