Orchestra board to meet
The Christchurch Sym-i phony Orchestra’s board of management will meet tomorrow. Mr G. A. Hay, spokesman for a majority of members on the board, said yesterday that he had sent a letter giving notice of the meeting to all members of the board. The letter, which was signed by eight board members, says that, because the president (Mr N. G. Pickering) has failed to call the requested board meeting, they will do so themselves.
“This meeting .will be held ‘without prejudice’ to any legal proceedings that are pending,” says the letter. Items on the agenda include: ‘Consideration of minutes, if any, of all board meetings held from, and including, June 27; matters arising from the minutes; offices of president and chairman; proposals (?) from the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council and local bodies; management posts; musical director’s contract; and special general meeting of subscribers—date, time and place.”
