Challenge to Mr Muldoon
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, October 14. The leader of the Opposition (Mr Muldoon) should endorse the candidature of Mr S. Goldsmith in the Sydenham by-election, said Mr Peter Edmonds, Dominion vice-president of tbe Social Credit Political League, in a statement in Palmerston North.
If Mr Muldoon was pre-; pared to interpret the results of the local body elections as “a tremendous tide of feel- 1 ing against the Government,”; he should give the people of Sydenham a chance to express their sentiments and opinions of the National Party as well, Mr Edmonds said. It would be easy for Mr Muldoon to make tions in National's favour; during the Sydenham byelection, said Mr Edmonds, but one could only truly estimate the strength of one’s opponents by actually participating in the contest and not by merely sitting by after' Imaking plausible excuses for' defaulting.
