Branch will close
Fashions, Ltd, the Auckland clothing manufacturer whose premises in Tuam Street were badlv damaged by fire in August, has decided to stop production in Christchurch. Since the fire the firm’s Christchurch branch has worked from Millers, Ltd, next to its site in Tuam Street, and from a small factory in Hornby. New jobs have been found for the 60 or so employees. The workers and company agreed on severance pay after discussions between executives and the Clothing Workers’ Union.
