Contraception pamphlet

Sir, —A letter in “The Press” on Friday, October 11, ' dealing with the “contraception pamphlet,” and signed i “Independent,” is defamatory ; in that it casts aspersions on ) my three sons, who have in no way been associated with this controversy. The letter has caused severe hurt to my wife, embarrassment to my sons, and has inspired insulting remarks to them. Such a letter, which is completely without foundation, should not have been published under a nom de plume, and on the same day as the closure was applied to the correspondence. — Yours, etc., H. J. WALKER, M.P. for Papanui. October 12, 1974. [Any hurt caused by a possible inference in the letter by “Independent,” which was not perceived by us, is regretted. The simpler purport of the letter, concerning the sensitivity of parents in general, should be obvious and accepted.—Editor.]
