Colour on the Coast
The West Coast joined the four main centres in receiving colour television on Friday. While the region was the last to get a black and white picture and had to rely on private translators to provide a service for many years, it has joined the colour network ahead of many other provinces. Picture quality was good, and people took time off to watch colour programmes in electrical-goods shops throughout Westport during the day. According to the Post Office, only seven colour sets are licensed in Buller, but it is understood that about 50 sets are in the district.—(F.O.O.R.)
