Bank collapses
A small Italian bank, the Banca Privata Italiana. part of a group run by the financier, Mr Michele Sindona, has been put into liquidation, the Bank of Italy announces. The decision was made after efforts by a coni sortium appointed to try to save the bank. The Bank of Italy says that investors with the Banca Privata Italiana will have their savings guaranteed, but that the i position of shareholders is ■less certain.
