Protester fined
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 1. A young man who shouted “leeches” and “parasites” at people attending a meeting of Auckland landlords addressed by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Muldoon) last month was today convicted on a charge of disorderly behaviour, and fined $lOO with $5 court costs. Before Mr H. Y. Gilliand, S.M., was Angus Albert Guild, aged 19, a checker loader, who denied the charge. Constable N. S. Morris said that Guild had broken through a police cordon outside the Peter Pan Cabaret on August 25 three times while a demonstration was in progress. Guild said that he was pushed through the police line by the surging of the crowd. He said that he had gone to the meeting to see what the landlords had to say, but was refused entry by the police. He said that he had not been drinking, and had not used obscene language, but had shouted the words "leeches” and “parasites.”
