Gun-licence suggestion
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. If car drivers must be licensed because they control a potentially lethal weapon .then a valid case can also be made for licensing people to use firearms, says the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr May).
He regarded the licensing of firearm users as a wise move. Mr May said in opening the National Mountain Safety Council’s two-day seminar on firearm safety.
“As access is made easier to our mountains and bush country we will have more and more hunters using firearms.
“Complete proficiency is necessary in the handling of firearms, and I believe personal registration of users would decrease the number of accidents.”
