S.I. rider in motocross side

The South Island 250 c.c. gold star scramble champion, L. Ross, of Christchurch, has been included in the New Zealand team to contest the Tasman moto-cross championships at the Clearwater Estate track in Queensland on October 27.

He is likely to ride a 250 Honda Elsinore.

One other South Island rider has been included—lB- - G. Goodfellow, of Dunedin, who finished run-ner-up to Ross in the gold star series. He will also likely to ride a 250 Honda. The other members of the team are the New Zealand champion, P. Ploen (Tauranga), M. Smith (Auckland), and M. Shirriffs (Palmerston North). Ploen will ride a 400 Suzuki and Smith one of the new cantilever 360 Yamahas. Shirriffs will race a 250 Honda. The teams Tasman event will be decided on points over three heats of 20 minutes, plus one lap. Prize money for the meeting totals $3OOO, with $2OOO of this resting on the outcome of the feature event. Points will be on a 15 to one basis for the first 15 riders in each heat.

The manager of the New Zealand team will be the South Island selector, Mr W. Campbell, of Christchurch.
