Five invited to Indonesian G.P.
Fresh invitations have been issued to five New Zealand riders to compete in the Indonesian motor-cycle grand prix in Djakarta on November 8,9, and 10.
They are J. Boote, D. Wylie, S. Avant (all Christchurch), and T. Discombe and W. Molloy (both Hamilton). Boote, and Wylie—who is the national 500 c.c. champion—are at present racing in America but are expected to return before the Indoniesian event. The meeting was scheduled for September but a clash with Malaysian events forced it to be postponed for almost two months. Avant, who was originally to ride a sponsored Suzuki, has now purchased a TZ7SC Yamaha and will probably take this with him. Boote and Discombe will also ride big four-cylinder TZ7SO Yamahas. Molloy, who recently took delivery of a Harley Davidson 350 racer, is expected to use this if it proves competitive in the meantime. It is not clear yet what Wylie will ride, although it is likely that he will change the Yamaha h' has been using in America for a new
TRSOO Suzuki racer. These machines have proved to be surprisingly competitive in relation to their bigger TZ7SO Yamaha rivals. The five riders, as well as a further seven from Australia, have been offered return air fares to Indoniesia and return for themselves, their mechanics, and their machines.
