Expansion by Jurie
(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Sept. 30. The Jurie Shipping Company (1964), Ltd, of Wellington, has extended its fishing business in Marlborough by the purchase of the installations of Associated Fishermen, Ltd, at Havelock, Picton, French Pass and the Marlborough Sounds. The Jurie company already has a Blenheim subsidiary, Wairau Fisheries, Ltd. Its activities now range from Takaka to Kaikoura.
The managing-director (Mr J. R. Jurie) said today that the purchase included mussel rafts in the Sounds, and which would be continued and possibly increased. Over-all in Marlborough, the company would now have 62 boats ranging from crayboats to trawlers, and would employ more than 200 people, he said.
Tennis.—Hungary won both singles matches to complete a 4-1 win over Finland in their Davis Cup European zone “B” second round tie. They will meet the Netherlands in the next round.
