Seat belt checks
Seat - belt anchorages should be checked occasionally by motorists: with constant use the bolts can work loose, and even drop out.
Rust is another danger, particularly on older cars. Rust around a belt mounting could weaken it sufficiently to allow the lower mounting to pull through the floor in an impact. Belt webbing which is badly frayed or chafed should be replaced. Belt manufacturers will fit new webbing to existing seatbelt mounts and buckles if they are in good condition.
