After three days of the national netball tournament. Waikato and Wellington are joint leaders in the first grade, each with 10 points from a possible 12.

Canterbury is in third place, with nine points, followed by Hutt Valley (8) and Otago (7). Waikato, promoted from the second grade after last year’s competition, had been unbeaten until yesterday, but in the morning, it went down to Wellington, 16-25. The afternoon game for Waikato was an anti-climax: it overwhelmed North Shore, 28-4. CLOSE STRUGGLE Wellington had earlier dropped a point in a draw with Otago, and yesterday afternoon, in one of the most exciting matches of the tournament so far, it was held to 32-32 by Canterbury.

The contest was close all the way, the lead, rarely more than one point, see-sawing

Golf.— Nine American golfers, including G. Brewer, R. Nichols, and H. Green, have been confirmed as starters for the City of Auckland Classic from November 13 to 17.
